Half Skull / Half Plant 

This design is minimal in form, but the wood selection and shaping give it an extreme amount of visual interest. The skull portion is made from Blue Stain Pine, with a very pronounced blue patterning that adds exceptional character and a feeling of decay. The leaves are crafted from Rainbow Poplar, giving the piece natural color without using any paints or stains.

It’s placed on a hardwood checkerboard backer made from White Wenge and Wenge.

This piece is part of my “mini collection,” but it is absolutely striking, and full of contrast.
