Raven

This Raven is magical from head to toe.

Every piece was hand cut on my scroll saw, hand shaped and carved. The Raven itself is made from Wenge, with a Moon inlay on the chest cut from Gioa‑Bao, along with the eye and the tiniest 3D stars that surround him. He’s perched on a walnut branch, grounded and proud.

The checkerboard backer is crafted from Purple Heart and White Wenge, giving the whole piece a bold, striking contrast. I’ve always wanted to make a raven, and this one absolutely scratched a creative itch I’ve had for a long time. Each feather is shaped individually to create dimension and Wenge was the perfect wood for him. 

This piece is part of my "mini collection" but his presence is not small.
